A full day of rain, a wedding dress that was supposed to be white was delivered in pink, and all the umbrellas broke in the wind. This was Adrienne and Doug’s Sydney rainy day wedding. Unfortunately, there is one thing you can’t control on your wedding day and that is the weather. You have to embrace what you are given with open arms otherwise it could ruin your day.
Adrienne and Doug did just that, deciding to keep their ceremony outdoors under the Balmoral Beach Rotunda. The 80 guests cuddled in close under the rotunda and the rest huddled under nearby trees. Everyone could hear the ceremony clearly with the celebrant’s PA system so it was a lovely experience for all! Because everyone was close it felt like an intimate ceremony and everyone was absorbing every word and feeling!
Adrienne and Doug gave the bridal party a little break from the rain while they headed to the little island off Balmoral beach for some photos. Amazingly for a February wedding, it was quite cold so lots of snuggling was needed. Who would have thought you would need a wrap after all these 40 degree days this summer! But like when the dress that arrived in pink and was supposed to be white, Adrienne took it in her stride, holding her new husband tighter to get warm.
Originally mustard yellow dresses were going to be the chosen colour for the bridesmaids but that colour did not suit any of them so the dress turning up pink was a blessing in disguise. The colours ended up looking stunning together, including the amazing bouquets. I apologise for the large amount of flower photos in this post but I couldn’t help it, I thought they complemented the bridal party perfectly!
The wedding reception was a stand-up affair at the lovely cafe/restaurant Burnt Orange in Mosman. Adrienne and Doug chose this spot because they had enjoyed many lovely breakfasts there on weekends. It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and lovely quirky details. Giant Jenga was set up inside and the photobooth was the most popular attraction! Please enjoy looking through the smiles below on everyone’s faces – rain will only dampen your day if you let it!
P.S Keep an eye out for Adrienne and Doug’s super cute two-year-old son, Saxon.
