Parramatta Park family portraits with autumn leaves!!

Throw some leaves around and have fun!

It was June 1st and we were lucky to see gorgeous autumn leaves for these Parramatta Park family portraits!

The week before, my very good friend Betty messaged me with a very urgent request. Her cousin had been telling her how important it was to be in photos with her kids. And it is so true, the mum usually ends up being the photographer and she does not have a record of her being there. So Betty took a leap of faith and decided it was important to be in some photos herself! We captured so many fun moments with the kids playing and just being themselves.

When I sent these previews to Betty she said, “The photos are amazing. I cried when I saw them. Thank you…the colours and just seeing the kids at this age is beautiful. I’m really glad we were able to meet up so quickly to get this done.” Be sure to look at the last photo in the post to see why Betty said this, “Oh. My. God. That’s adorable… I love the candid ones you take. Always. You really capture the essence.”

So what do you think Mums (and Dads), is it time you are in the photos too?! Would you like to try a Parramatta Park family portraits session or perhaps somewhere else? I can offer suggestions.

Parramatta Park family portraits – All the details

I usually tell people the best way to approach a family portrait session is to relax and not have high expectations. When you are stressed and/or worried about the kids smiling and looking at the camera they will usually feed off that energy and we won’t see natural smiles. But if we do a little warm up, we let the kids get familiar with their surroundings and me being around. My sessions are usually 60-90 minutes so we have time for everyone to relax.

I use the personality information asked before the day so I can help form a connection in front of the camera! For instance, Lukas loves Star Wars so to understand his behaviour and the games he was playing I needed to understand Star Wars! I encouraged these games and played along so he could trust me more with the camera. After a while the kids seemed fine with me being around. As they settle I capture natural smiles – maybe even some looking at the camera! So if you want a natural approach to your family portraits feel free to contact me.
