Sanna and Ville’s Royal-Inspired Tampere Wedding

What fairytale weddings are made of!

Sanna and Ville are very hard-working entrepreneurs and certainly deserve the perfect fairytale Tampere wedding they planned! Sanna had mentioned she loved the style of the Swedish Royal Weddings and really wanted the wedding to reflect that. I think they did pretty well to achieve that feel and we also chose some wedding poses to make sure they looked like royalty! Be sure to check out the pictures at their stunning reception location.

Two weeks before their late May Tampere Wedding it was snowing and it looked miserable! But wow, what a difference two weeks can make because in Finland everything seems to instantly turn green when the weather gets better! We were very lucky as Sanna really wanted a spring feel to the day. And although it was a little rainy and 9 degrees, the tulips had blossomed and the trees were full of leaves!

So what else does a Princess have on their wedding day? A stunning lace wedding dress with a long train and a very long veil. Perhaps a horse-drawn carriage waiting outside the church and dinner in a grand historic building. They ticked all these boxes and it was truly a magical day.

One of my favourite parts of a Finnish Wedding is the tradition of playing games. Usually, the bridal attendants will organise games and get the couple to play along. They give them tasks to complete or questions to answer. This time the couple had to find particular items in the room and bring them to the bridal attendants. The first one to hand in the item wins! Sanna and Ville are very competitive so it was so much fun to see them play this game and the room was filled with laughter!

This competitive spirit was also shown when it came to cutting the three amazing wedding cakes!! I am not sure who won in the end though! You have to stomp your foot on the floor as soon as the knife touches the bottom and first one to do this wins and considered the head of the household. Maybe they both won!

I was the lucky one to be chosen to capture their amazing day. Sanna noticed me when I photographed her friend’s wedding 5 years ago in Helsinki. We chatted on Facebook for about 18 months before the wedding and it was wonderful to get to know this gorgeous couple whose souls are entwined for an eternity. Wishing you all the best for your marriage and your successful businesses!!

Also a massive thank you to my wonderful Finnish friend Jenni who took those gorgeous photos from up high in the church and for all her dedicated dress arranging/fixing throughout the day. Jenni, you certainly helped Sanna feel like a princess!
