Catherine and Levente planned an absolutely beautiful Hunters Hill Wedding with a traditional service at Holy Name of Mary church. They then had a relaxed celebration at Banjo Paterson’s Cottage just down the road. In November they will celebrate with a wedding blessing in Budapest.
Catherine and Levente are professionals in the creative arts (ballerinas, coordinators and much more!). They met while working abroad. It was no surprise that they knew exactly how to ‘pose’ for the night photos. However, it didn’t take much for their true devotion and personalities to come out during this time. I asked Levente to tell Catherine what was going through his mind when she walked down the aisle. This is obviously a very emotional time and I was expecting an ‘awww’ or a tear. Levente whispered in Catherine’s ear something in Hungarian. They both burst out laughing. Apparently, he was thinking of a new goulash recipe!
Catherine’s wedding dress and veil were incredibly special. I will let her describe to you why. “My dress was first my grandmothers in 1958, then my mother wore it in 1983 with minimal alterations. It is silk taffeta and I have only changed the sleeves. The fabric was damaged by the 40 degree February day when my mother wore it. My veil is also special. I bought it here in Sydney and then carried it to Budapest. An acquaintance of Levi’s mum hand-embroidered the edges with traditional Hungarian motifs. It took 3 months and turned out beautifully.”
This Hunters Hill Wedding was very special to me also. It was the first time I was booked to photograph a wedding on my own wedding anniversary – June 22. Father Kevin even wished me a happy 17th Wedding anniversary which was lovely. The other reason is that Catherine and Levente have asked me to take portraits of them in Budapest, Hungary. We are going to explore this beautiful city which Levente calls home. I am just a little excited!!
