Engagement photos in the 'burbs!

Instead of a portrait session in an ‘epic’ location Naomi and Nick decided on a mini backyard portrait session! It was truly perfect for them! You see, they love all things vintage and retro and my house and backyard are definitely retro haha! We rented this house for 10 years and I do miss its wonderful character. Our new home is certainly more modern.

We will call the garage in these photos ‘rustic’ and charming. How awesome is the colour of the door, oh how I miss that door! And the classic hills hoist proudly dominated the backyard and Naomi and Nick loved it!

We were able squeeze in a few photos just before we lost the light. Considering this was the first time we had met, I think we did really well! Look at all those happy and natural moments in just five minutes!

Who says you cannot have photos in your backyard? It is a great record of your time at home and great to look back on in years to come. As you have probably noticed, things can change so quickly. I have also found that my clients, who are usually a little shy in front of the camera, feel more comfortable at home. My specialty as well as smaller relaxed weddings are ‘At Home’ portrait sessions. Considering our new COVID-19 environment these will end up being very interesting and important memories.
