WOW. If you want a cool wedding day, look to Megan and Andrew’s celebrations by the water. I would highly recommend The Theatre Bar at the End of the Wharf Wedding for your ceremony and your reception!
Megan and Andrew met on a boat many years ago and they assure me it was nothing like ‘The Love Boat’! They both love being on the water and Megan is out to sea for long periods of time whilst Andrew works more locally on the tug boats around Sydney. I think the most memorable part of the wedding was the tug boat doing 360s in front of the reception venue at Walsh Bay and sounding the horn!
I love that Megan embraced their Naval theme with shipping knots keeping the rings safe for the ceremony, the navy and white striped table runners, the cool rope balls (sorry I don’t know the right names for them!), the invitation with custom boat themed logos and the hotel by the Harbour. We were transported on the day by Water Taxi and before the ceremony, the bridal party headed to Cockatoo Island for some photos and most importantly cocktails! The day was super relaxed and there was lots of fun had despite Megan’s Vera Wang shoes splitting on Cockatoo Island (we used some good old sticky tape to fix it!) and the weather being a little windy.
My most favourite parts of the day: the fact that Megan’s dress zipped off at the knee; the bright flowers, the quirky photos and fun we had on Cockatoo Island, the red lobster at the ceremony, the heartfelt vows, the look on Andrew’s face when he first saw Megan that day, the macaron smash, the tug boat show and the stunning sunset over the water :).
Cockatoo Island was chosen by Megan and Andrew because of its shipping history and also because, in my opinion, it is the coolest place in Sydney for photos ;). Their reception ceremony venue is now my new favourite in Sydney (and no wonder, it is just like Simmer on the Bay which is right down the end of the wharf!) – The Theatre Bar at the End of the Wharf Wedding has an industrial/rustic and yet modern feel to it. It has lots of character and before we left for the night we were spoilt with the most amazing Duck entree I have ever tasted! I highly recommend!!!
