Marie bought two dresses – one from Sydney and one in her travels from Guatemala. She didn’t spend thousands but both dresses looked gorgeous on her and were perfect for a beach wedding. The last time I photographed a wedding in a tropical destination, the Trash the Dress session didn’t happen because they were too tired. I wasn’t holding my breath for this one either as thunderstorms were predicted and Lee wasn’t a huge fan of being in front of the camera (although maybe I have convinced him otherwise).
The day after the wedding came and I was picked up at 7.30am by a tired couple. Marie had been battling a bad sore throat but once our feet touched the sand and we saw that the beach was all to ourselves it was like all cares had blown away. They danced, they splashed, they cuddled, they seduced each other on the beach but most of all they laughed. They couldn’t stop laughing!! It was then that I realised it is worth pushing my clients to do this session. Marie and Lee told me they had the best time (maybe even more than wedding day?!?).
“After our wonderful wedding celebration, we were excited to join Gemma for some fun photos capturing the morning sun and beautiful ocean at Smith’s Cove, Cayman Islands. Whilst waking up early the day after our wedding was questioned by a puzzled local, it was a perfect (and very refreshing) way to conclude our celebrations. Gemma had some ideas about shots we could do, which we followed but also went with the flow. Gemma’s talent for capturing the moment, but also let the moment be, really shines through in our pictures. I used a different dress for this session, as I had bought one whilst travelling and I knew it would give me more movement in the water. Both Lee and I love the fun coming through in the trash the dress photos, and will keep vivid memories of our smooching and splashing!”
