I have a very close friend here in Sydney. We have very similar values with regards to wanting to make a difference in the world and it was our connection at University during our Socially and Ecologically Responsible Business subject that brought us together. For me to be there on her wedding day was an absolutely amazing experience. Sure, I have been to a lot of weddings, hundreds in fact. But this wedding was different. It is a wedding of two people I have seen grow together and build their own amazing connection. Marie is a very thoughtful person and expressing feelings and meaning is very important to her, so I knew this would be an emotional wedding for their Caribbean Elopement in the Cayman Islands.
They took a month-long trip to Cuba, Belize, Mexico, Guatemala and the Cayman Islands. I loved their relaxed approach to the whole wedding – it was just going to be the two of them. But when Marie and I met up for a goal-setting session in Centennial Park five days before they were to leave for their trip I had a sneaking suspicion that the Cayman Islands provided more than just an ideal holidaying destination. So that was that; I was booking my trip so I could capture this beautiful Caribbean elopement of my gorgeous friend Marie and her Lee.
The vows and my reading were written on postcards from the Cayman Islands. The ceremony was at sunset on a perfect winter’s (but still warm) day.
